Aim & Scope
Progress in Materials Science publishes authoritative reviews of recent advances in the science of materials and their exploitation in engineering. Emphasis is placed on fundamental aspects of the subject, particularly those concerning the electronic and atomistic nature of condensed phases, their microstructure, the relationship between structure and properties (mechanical, chemical, electrical, magnetic and optical); on the thermodynamics, kinetics, mechanisms and modelling of processes which occur within solids, liquids and other condensed phases; on experiments and models which help in understanding the macroscopic properties of materials in terms of microscopic mechanisms; and with work which advances the understanding of the use of materials in engineering. Manuscripts are generally of greater length than those found in journals specialising in research papers. Contributors, who may be invited by the Editors or who may submit outline proposals directly, are offered a small royalty upon publication of the article. Any outline dealing with metallic or non-metallic materials in the context outlined above will be considered. Interested authors are invited to contact one of the Editors for further details. [1]
