Aim & Scope
College & Undergraduate Libraries fills a long-time gap for librarians at two- and four-year colleges and university undergraduate libraries. A roadmap to excellence for these libraries, each issue covers administrative, technical service, public service, and collection matters relevant to undergraduate librarianship. Highly readable articles by faculty, librarians, paraprofessionals, library staff, and students provide practical information and creative solutions to common problems. College & Undergraduate Libraries is the first journal to recognize that most college libraries operate without the benefit of the automation librarians, microcomputer librarians, subject specialists, preservation officers, security program officers, or microform librarians that are available to large university research libraries. This unique journal provides busy college librarians, already saddled with an array of responsibilities, with practical, step-by-step articles on subjects such as understanding statistics and purchasing and maintaining microcomputers, as well as columns on stretching library dollars. Topical areas covered by College & Undergraduate Libraries include: monograph and serials collection management, faculty rank and status for college librarians, preservation and conservation needs, innovations in library support for undergraduate courses, standards and assessment, preparing the college library for accreditation, college archives without an archivist, inexpensive staff development ideas, marketing the college library.
